Can I walk in for a tattoo consultation at Absolute Body Art?

Walk-ins are always welcome for tattoo consultations — no appointment needed. If you'd rather lock in a time, you can call or book online instead. Bring any photos or sketches you have, and the artist will talk through placement, size, and style with you.

What actually happens during a tattoo consultation?

You'll sit down with one of our artists, share any reference photos or ideas you have, and talk through your vision together. From there, they'll help with placement and sizing, sketch out a rough concept if you're ready, and walk you through timing and pricing. With 25+ years in the shop, our artists are just as comfortable turning a fully-formed idea into art as they are helping you figure out where to start.

Will you explain tattoo aftercare, or do I have to figure it out myself?

Aftercare is walked through in person during your visit, not handed to you as a printout. Because the advice is specific to your tattoo's placement and your skin, you'll leave knowing exactly what to clean it with, what to avoid, and how long healing should take — and you can always call if something comes up after you're home.

Can you cover up an old tattoo?

Yes, cover-ups are one of the things the artists here do most. They'll look at what you've already got, tell you honestly what's realistic given its size and color, and design something new that works with it — the goal is always a piece you're proud of, not just something hiding the old one.

Can a tattoo artist help me design a custom color tattoo if I only have a rough idea?

A rough idea is enough to start — you don't need a finished design walking in. The artist will ask questions, sketch a few directions, and help you land on placement and colors that'll hold up well over time. That's exactly what a free consultation is for.

How many sessions does a sleeve tattoo take?

Sleeves are built over multiple sessions, not finished in one sitting. It starts with a consultation where you share your references or the story you want your sleeve to tell, and your artist maps out how the design will flow across your arm. From there, the work is broken into sessions spaced out for healing, with a timeline and price estimate once the design is set.

Can I bring reference photos to a tattoo appointment?

Absolutely — bring in photos, screenshots, sketches, whatever inspires the piece you have in mind. It gives your artist a clear starting point, especially for detailed work like sleeves and custom color pieces. They'll use your references to build something original with you, not copy them outright.

How much does a tattoo cost at Absolute Body Art?

Pricing depends on size, detail, placement, and how many sessions it'll take, so there's no flat rate that's accurate for everyone. The most reliable way to get a real number is a free consultation, where the artist can look at your idea and give you an actual quote before you book anything.

Where can I see Absolute Body Art's past tattoo work?

Check out our gallery for a look at recent tattoos across every style — sleeves, color, black-and-grey, and more. It's a great way to see the quality and range of work before you decide who to book with. You can also follow along on Instagram, or ask to see more examples in person when you come in.

What types of piercings does Absolute Body Art offer?

Absolute Body Art does lobe, cartilage, tragus, navel, nostril, septum, brow, lip, and tongue piercings, among others. Don't see what you want listed — call the shop directly, since they can often do placements that aren't on the standard menu.

How safe are the piercings at Absolute Body Art?

Safety and hygiene come first here. Our piercers use sterile, high-quality jewelry and follow strict hygiene protocols in a spotless, family-friendly studio, so every piercing is quick, precise, and worry-free — whether it's your first or your fifth.

How old do you have to be to get a tattoo in Washington State?

You must be 18 or older to get a tattoo in Washington State — this applies to everyone, with no exception for parental consent (RCW 26.28.085). Absolute Body Art follows this law strictly and will ask for photo ID.

Do I need a tattoo or piercing appointment at Absolute Body Art, or can I just walk in?

Walk-ins are always welcome for both tattoos and piercings — no appointment needed for either service. If you'd rather lock in a specific time, you can book online or call (253) 364-4539; it's the same process whether you're coming in for a piercing, a tattoo consultation, or a full sitting.

Do I have to book a tattoo right after the consultation?

Not at all — there's no pressure to book on the spot. Come in, talk through your idea, ask questions, and take your time deciding. When you're ready, book online, call, or just walk back in.
